This interactive museum installation explores how the experience of living with dementia can be conveyed to foster empathy. Through the notion of interactive storytelling, Two Sides To The Story portrays everyday situations from the train of thought of someone with dementia and his caregiver.

How it works

Two Sides consists of a cabinet that portrays three everyday scenarios from the train of thought of someone with dementia and his caregiver. For the stories, inspiration was taken by interviewing people with dementia, informal caregivers and health professionals.

The interactive installation was designed for the Nederlands Openluchtmuseum to be placed in a historic 70’s house where visitors can walk a route and discover the different stories. With the aid of RFID technology, they are invited to view dementia from different perspectives through interactive storytelling enabled by tangible and embodied objects.
