Inclusive design

Dutch Design Week 2019

For blind people, there are many barriers to overcome when playing a sport or game in order to have the same accessibility as a sighted person. OMNI is a reaction game where the visually impaired are involved as there are no visual cues and works with multisensory feedback including vibrations and sound.
How it works

Most reaction games are based on visual cues. Therefore, to make OMNI fair to play by sighted as well as visually impaired people, hints such as lights were left out.  The game includes a story in which a group of criminals is on the loose and can only be defeated when three different game modes are played successfully. Players need to feel, find and flip the vibrating cups in order to succeed. Different textures were designed so a difference can be felt between the cups when touched.
